Take it away is an Arts Council initiative designed to help more people get involved in learning and playing music. The scheme allows individuals to apply for a loan of up to £2,000 for the purchase of any musical instrument, and pay it back in nine monthly instalments, completely interest free. 

 

Take it away is open to everyone (over the age of 18), but primarily designed to help those who might otherwise be unable to afford an instrument appropriate for their needs. 

 

PLEASE NOTE: 

This scheme only applies where a musical instrument is the main purchase. It cannot be used for purchasing PA equipment or amplifiers alone. 

 

THE PROCESS: 

Pop into our store and fill out the application form. A credit check will be phoned through which only takes a couple of minutes. Once accepted, a 10% deposit payment is required by debit or credit card (which will also suffice as a form of ID). You can take the instrument away with you there and then. All that's required is 9 more individual payments of 10% over nine months. The ticket price of the item is all you pay so NO ADDED INTEREST. 

 

QUESTIONS: 

Q. Do I need to take proof of address or photo ID with me? 

A. NO, YOU JUST NEED TO HAVE A CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD WITH YOU. 

 

Q. Can I apply if I'm a student, retired or unemployed? 

A. YES, YOU JUST NEED TO BE OVER 18, AN ENGLISH RESIDENT AND ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR A LOAN. 

 

Q. What's the catch? If the customer doesn't pay the interest, who does? 

A. NO CATCH. THE SCHEME IS SUBSIDISED BY ARTS COUNCIL ENGLAND. THIS MEANS THAT THE ARTS COUNCIL PAYS THE INTEREST TO THE BANK, INSTEAD OF THE CUSTOMER. 

 

Q. Can I take my instrument home immediately? 

A. YES, ONCE YOU HAVE SIGNED THE AGREEMENT AND PAID YOUR DEPOSIT YOU CAN TAKE YOUR NEW INSTRUMENT HOME IMMEDIATELY.
