Here we have an excellent 'player's' instrument with punchy active electronics (master volume, pickup blend, bass, treble controls), a slim, easy-to-play neck with 25 frets, a brass nut and a lovely dark rosewood fingerboard. The 'Tune' brand is a bit of an enigma, originally being made in Japan in the early 80's, and was recognised as producing high quality and versatile instruments; establishing itself as the weapon of choice with some serious players of the time. It has however, had a turbulent and convoluted history and some later basses were made in Korea (where a lot of the original hardware came from anyway); with a lot of cross-over and different manufacturers vying for use of the Tune moniker. As happens over time, the pickups, electronics and hardware on these basses have slowly been changed and upgraded, depending on when and where they were made; but the high-quality recipe has always been maintained, which is abundantly apparent as soon as you pick this instrument up. It oozes playability, has a versatile but simple-to-use sound palette and would make those long gigs a breeze.
This bass is in excellent condition throughout with no marks or dings to speak of, and only very light signs of careful use. We are uncertain as to exactly when/where it was made as there doesn't seem to be a definitive way to date them, but we are fairly sure it's not an early one. It comes fully serviced, restrung and setup, and also comes with a non-original Yamaha hardcase for protection.
