The Maxx DS-30 Distortion is an analog guitar distortion pedal produced in the late 1980s to early 1990s and manufactured in Taiwan. The distortion circuit is intended to deliver maximum distortion with direct control over tone and intensity. Its voicing emphasizes bright, aggressive gain with a cutting character and pronounced upper-mid presence, allowing distorted guitar signals to remain articulate at higher gain settings. The analog design supports a usable range from gritty lower-gain drive to saturated high-gain distortion, reflecting the goal of providing a straightforward, high-impact distortion effect without extended tone-shaping stages or additional features.
